나에게 물방울은 시작과 끝을 동시에 의미한다. 물방울은 공기 중 수분들이 모여 하나의 개체가 되며 수많은 생명을 탄생시키듯, 나의 모든 경험이 쌓여 진정한 자아를 만든다고 생각한다. 유리는 내가 지금까지 작가의 삶을 선택할 수 있는 가장 큰 양분이며 정체성이기도 하다. 과거에 그림으로 그려진 물방울은 착시현상과 환상이 겹쳐나오는 평면작품이라면 나의 작업은 유리구슬로 평면 위에 자리를 잡고 입체로 또 다른 착시현상을 중첩 시켜 보았다. 작업에서의 모든 영감과 구성은 한국을 상징할 수 있는 전통의 미를 현대적으로 재표현 하였다. 한국을 대표하는 오방색과 단청을 바탕으로 선과 면, 입체의 조화와 모든 구도의 기본인 수직, 수평은 한국의 전통 창호를 추상적으로 표현하였다. 특히, 유리 물방울의 영롱함은 차원의 개념을 잠시 잊게 만드는 역할을 하며 과거와 현대, 미래를 동시에 생각하게 하는 시각적인 힘을 가지고 있다. 황목 천의 거친 질감 위에 실제 물방울과 가장 흡사한 소재인 유리를 사용하여 영롱함과 동시에 시간 변화에 따라 캔버스 위에 유리 물방울 그림자가 빛에 따라 다르게 보이기도 한다. 작업에서 색이 의미하는 것은 나에게 감정의 순간순간을 색으로 표현한 것이다. 누구나 하루에도 몇 번씩 변하기도 하는 감정과 감성은 인간이 가지는 가장 큰 능력이라고 할 수 있다. 나에게 이 작업은 과거를 기억하며 현재와 미래를 준비하는 작업이다. 황마 캔버스는 과거를 의미하며 색과 유리는 현재와 미래의 나의 감정과 감성을 표현한 것이다. 최근 우리의 일상들은 어색함을 느끼기도 전에 바뀌어 가고 있다. 물방울이 주는 여러 가지 느낌 중에는 맑음, 투명함 등이 있다. 그중 변하지 않는 것이라는 유리의 투명함이 나에게는 가장 크게 자리 잡고 있다.

나는 마치 유리 렌즈를 통해 과거를 들여다보는 상상을 한다.

 

 

To me, water droplets mean the beginning and the end at the same time. Just as water droplets in the air gather to become an object and give birth to numerous lives, I think that all my experiences are accumulated to create a true self. Glass is the greatest nutrient and identity that I can choose the artist's life so far. If a water droplet painted in the past is a flat work that overlaps with an optical illusion, my work settled on a plane with a glass bead and overlapped another optical phenomenon in three dimensions. All the inspiration and composition in the work modernly re-expressed the beauty of tradition that can symbolize Korea. Based on the five colors and “Dancheong” representing Korea, the harmony of lines, sides, and solids, and vertical and horizontal, which are the basis of all compositions, abstractly express Korean traditional windows. In particular, the brilliance of glass droplets serves to make me forget the concept of dimension for a while and has a visual force that makes you think about the past, the present, and the future at the same time. On the rough texture of yellow wood cloth, glass, the material most similar to the actual water drop, is used to shine, and at the same time, the shadow of glass on the canvas may look different depending on the light depending on the time change. What color means to me in work is that every moment of emotion is expressed in color. Emotions and emotions that everyone changes several times a day are the greatest abilities of humans. For me, this work is to remember the past and prepare for the present and the future. Jute canvas means the past, and color and glass are expressions of my emotions and emotions in the present and the future. Recently, our daily lives are changing even before we feel awkward. Clearness and transparency are among the various feelings that water droplets give. Among them, the transparency of the glass that does not change is the biggest thing for me.

I always imagine looking into the past through a glass lens.
